In the backdrop of #iGEM2020 our world is changing in vast and unprecedented ways, and the need to develop a truly sustainable economy based on biology is ever more urgent.
This led us to develop the iGEM EPIC programme, with the intention of catalyzing the translation of projects from the lab to the market. We have successfully supported over 80 aspiring biofounders, Grown a community of entrepreneurs and mentors all enthusiastic about the future of synthetic biology, and Inspired a new generation of scientists to step forth in their entrepreneurial journeys.

As we expand our program to become more accessible to young scientists across the world, via free and virtual programs that provide everyone with empowering toolkits to enable synbio, entrepreneurship and regenerative bioeconomics.

The Entrepreneurship Program Innovation Community (EPIC) supports the development of iGEM’s entrepreneurial community. We aim to become the driving force behind hundreds of SynBio based start-ups globally to help accelerate our transition to a more sustainable bioeconomy. The core of the program is focused on supporting iGEMers by providing resources and training in biobusiness, and connecting them to relevant co-founders, mentors, accelerators, investors and partners. This is done through a range of activities globally including the Venture Creation Labs, Mentorship Program, Fast Track Program and the annual Startup Showcase.
